10 Compelling Reasons Why We Need Chakra Healing

What is a Chakra?

If you do a quick search with this question on the internet, you will get pages of articles mentioning Sanskrit, the word "wheel", and energy centers.

And although this is true, let's go under the surface and do a deep dive into what a chakra is.

But before you can understand what a chakra is, you need to understand what energy is.

What is Energy?

If I asked you that question, you would probably say something like: It's the thing we need to be able to run, push a shopping cart, boil water for coffee, or charge a cellphone.

Although that's right, it really only tells us what energy is used for, not what it is.

With the exception of energy in the form of light, energy is not a thing.

Instead, energy refers to a condition or a state of a thing. This condition of "having" or "losing" energy is always passed from one object to another.

In the human body, these objects are called cells.

Energy can also be changed. But it cannot be lost or created. It just always "is".

Beings of Light

Your cells are made up of smaller parts called atoms, which are made up of even smaller particles that we refer to as being positive, negative, or neutral.

When there is a chemical reaction that happens in the body, these charged particles pass their energies to each other. How friendly!

We humans also have what is known as resonant energy.

What that means is that even though we may be sitting or standing perfectly still, not doing anything, we are always sending out into the space around us (also called an aura or biofield) this condition of energy.

The space around us is able to absorb what we send it, and it can send energy from other people and places back to us which we then absorb.

Doesn't that make you think about who and what you allow into your personal space?

We humans have electrical and magnetic properties. Our bodies send out heat, sound, and light.

We can measure our heat with a thermometer. We can hear our external sound energy with our ears and our internal sound energy with a stethoscope.

Less commonly known is the fact that we generate light at 1,000 times less intense than levels the naked eye can see.

We generate light?! Yes!!

The charged particles within our atoms vibrate with energy. They react during the cellular chemical energy processes going on within the human body.

The result of these reactions is that we give off bio-photons and electromagnetic energy, together known as "light". This energy is measured in frequencies.

We are beings of energy.

Or, a phrase you may be more familiar with, "beings of light".

Now that you know what energy is, and what it's not, you can easily understand what a chakra is.

How I Define a Chakra

Chakra is the word used to describe one of over 100 areas in your body where there are a lot of cells passing energy to each other and out into the space around you.

Chakras are also where you absorb back into your body the energy from outside of you.

Most people focus on the 7 main chakras when healing is needed. The 7 main chakras also are believed to represent stages of our emotional and spiritual development.

What is Chakra Healing?

Chakra healing is an ancient idea about how to heal the body and soul through flowing energy.

The focus of most chakra healing is the 7 main energy centers in the body that run through the spine, beginning at the tailbone and ending at the top of the head.

People today are turning to healing their chakras as a form of self-care to encourage changes in their physical bodies and emotions, as well as develop a deeper connection with Spirit.

It is not a substitute for medical care.

Chakra healing has become more mainstream through the popularity of yoga, meditation, and the acceptance of essential oils, Reiki, and crystal healing (among others), as effective tools for individual spiritual practice.

Who Can Do Chakra Healing?

Overall, chakra healing involves either seeking a qualified and ethical complementary therapy practitioner, or finding different ways of developing and practicing a self-care routine, through perhaps the use of food and exercise (think Ayurveda and yoga) or spiritual tools such as oils and crystals, for example.

The best choice for you will be whatever feels right.

Why Do We Need Chakra Healing?

Here are 10 compelling reasons why we need (and what you can expect from) chakra healing for the body, mind, emotions, and spirit.

1. Physical Health and Well-Being

When your chakra energy system is negatively altered or compromised over an extended period of time, changes can start happening at the cellular level. When the cellular level is affected, physical symptoms begin to appear in the body.

Also, disturbances in the auric field eventually manifest as disease in the physical body, meaning that healing any imbalances in the aura will assist the body to resist illness.

2. Spiritual Maturity

You will learn to see your body and spirit in a new way, and begin to understand the lessons associated with each chakra. You will discover the spiritual causes of physical illness and how to recover emotionally and physically.

3. Improved Sleep

Focusing on the chakras quiets the mind and helps you set intentions for yourself. With routine practice you will be able to evoke the relaxation response and find yourself able to drift peacefully off to sleep.

4. Letting go of the notion of being a victim

The first chakra teaches us that we don't have the power to change what has happened in our lives. We can't go back for "do-overs".

We must learn to put our faith and trust in Divine authority and justice, and understand that our painful experiences are challenging us to take a closer look at where we have placed (or misplaced) our faith.

    5. Breaking bad habits

The second chakra is the energy center in the body where we find our personal morals and code of ethics. Here we hold the promises we have made to ourselves and others. It allows us to communicate what we will and won't accept in our relationships with others.

The creative energy of the second chakra helps us to break out of negative patterns in our behaviors, thoughts, and relationships.

    6. Developing self-esteem

The third chakra is where we become "alive" by becoming empowered. Our external circumstances of the past and present that coax us into contemplating and undergoing necessary change become small rites of passage on our journey toward personal power.

    7. Moving beyond old wounds

The fourth chakra is the center of our energy system, sitting halfway between the first and the seventh chakras. It is here where we receive the heart energy that runs our lives.

When your heart is broken, having the time and support system to process your wounds is comforting. The problem begins when the compassion of others starts to feel too good, and we forget how (or just refuse) to move on with life.

Learning what to do with your pain is the lesson of the fourth chakra.

    8. Breaking fear's authority over your life

Between the head and the heart lies the fifth chakra, the place where we begin to understand the communication patterns between the heart and the mind.

The energetic essence of the fifth chakra is faith. Evaluating where we place our faith is the lesson to be learned here. We can have faith in people, faith in ideas, or faith in fear.

We must be careful where we place the energy of our mind and heart. We can give our power to fear, or free ourselves from it. It is our choice.

    9. Changing the rules and beliefs you live by

The energy of the sixth chakra sees us expanding into the realm of consciousness. We evaluate our memories and attitudes and we see our awareness shift. We look within to understand what we believe and why.

We develop inner guidance to begin changing the rules we used to live by and the beliefs we used to hold.

    10. Allowing spirituality to become the guide for your life

Seventh chakra energy radiates love and wisdom and the desire to live in service to all of life on earth.

It provides a closer spiritual connection to the Divine and helps answer the questions you seek guidance about.

Hopefully, you can understand how important your chakras are. The movement of properly flowing energy achieved through Chakra Healing can help us in ways that improve our health, vibrancy, and overall quality of life. Identifying, correcting, and maintaining the flow of energy through our body helps us live our very best and happiest life.
